Tummy time is one of the most talked about parts of the first year, and one of the most stressful. Babies protest, parents feel guilty, and it is hard to know what actually helps. This set is built around one simple job: making short, supervised tummy time sessions interesting enough that your baby stays down a little longer. Swap between the three toys and every session feels new.
Double Sided Tummy Time Book Toy
Soft, foldable cloth with a mirror for your baby to discover, plus bold patterns and simple picture panels. It folds into a triangle that stands on its own right in front of your baby, or opens flat for floor play, and a carry handle makes it easy to move and store. Designed to support pattern recognition and hand and eye coordination. Available in two styles.
3D Touch and Feel Cloth Book
A soft, light cloth book with bright animal pictures and names on every page, plus a raised 3D plush character on the cover. Textured fabric pieces and shaped tabs invite little hands to touch and hold, crinkle paper rustles with every page, and the soft pages are easy for small hands to turn. A hanging loop lets you attach it to the pram.
Musical Crinkle Caterpillar
At around 55 cm long, this soft caterpillar stretches right across your baby’s view. A music box hides in the head, crinkle paper rustles when it is pressed, a squeaker responds to a gentle squeeze and a rattle bell sounds as it moves. Smooth, ribbed and raised textures run throughout in bright patterns and contrasting colours, and little fabric legs give extra places to grab. Made mainly from polyester.
All three are designed for supervised, awake play.
None of the three pieces should be washed or soaked. All of them are wipe clean only.

Storage
Store the set in a dry, airy place away from direct sunlight, damp conditions, fire and heat sources. Avoid severe impacts or drops to the caterpillar, as these may damage the internal music, rattle or mechanical components.
Always use the set on a firm surface on the floor during supervised, awake tummy time, and never inside a cot or other sleep space.
Start with the mirror
Set the Double Sided Tummy Time Book Toy up in its standing position so the mirror and high contrast panels are easy to see. Let your baby look at their reflection, make funny faces, smile, point to their eyes and nose, or play simple peekaboo games together.
Change what faces your baby
For younger babies, position the black and white panels within comfortable viewing distance and move the book slowly from side to side, giving your baby time to follow the patterns with their eyes. Change which side faces your baby from one session to the next, and place it slightly to the left or right to encourage them to look, turn and reach in different directions.
Use the caterpillar to stretch the session
Position the caterpillar slightly in front of your baby, close enough to see but just beyond easy reach. Press the head to activate the music, squeeze the body sections and gently move it to introduce its crinkle, squeaking and rattling sounds. Its long, colourful body can encourage your baby to lift and turn their head, reach toward the legs and textured sections, shift their weight and stay interested for longer.
Open the books for touch and feel play
Open the foldout book flat and allow your baby to touch, grab and explore the different fabric sections, letting them take their time rather than rushing from one activity to the next. With the 3D cloth book, let them touch the raised animal characters, feel the different fabrics and textures, press, squeeze and crinkle the interactive sections, hold the fabric tabs and look at the illustrations while you name each animal.
Talk about what you see
Point to the animals, shapes, colours and pictures and name them aloud. Try simple phrases such as “Can you see the panda?” or “Look at the red square.” As your baby grows, you can ask them to find familiar pictures.
Begin with short sessions and stop when your baby becomes tired or unsettled.
Clear age guide
Manufacturer guidance: 0+ on the 3D cloth book and the caterpillar.
Mysa Baby SA recommendation: Suitable from birth when you lead the play, with the strongest play stage at roughly 2 to 9 months. The foldout book suits about 0 to 9 months, the caterpillar about 3 to 12 months, and the 3D cloth book about 3 to 18 months, with both books staying useful to around 18 months for pointing, naming and turning pages.
0 to 3 months: looking and listening, led by you
Place the foldout book upright nearby and let your baby look at the mirror and bold patterns while lying on their back or during brief, supervised tummy time. Hold the 3D book within view and turn the pages slowly, and gently activate the caterpillar’s sounds while moving it from side to side. By around two months, many babies can look at a toy for several seconds and briefly hold their head up while on their tummy. Tummy time should only happen while babies are awake and supervised.
3 to 6 months: batting, reaching and early grasping
Position the panels slightly in front of your baby and alternate which side is visible. Your baby may begin batting at the plush animal on the 3D book, reaching toward the caterpillar’s colourful legs and holding a section when it is placed in their hand. By around four months, many babies push onto their elbows or forearms and begin swinging their arms toward toys.
6 to 9 months: strongest sensory exploration
Babies can reach for the books, grasp the fabric tags, squeeze the plush animal, crinkle the pages, pat the mirror panels and transfer parts between their hands. Reaching for wanted toys and pushing up with straighter arms are common around six months, while moving objects between hands is common by around nine months.
9 to 12 months: more independent floor play
Your baby may sit with a book, turn the soft pages, search for favourite pictures, move along the caterpillar and press different sections while sitting or beginning to move across the floor.
12 to 18 months: early learning together
The books can remain useful for pointing to animals, naming pictures, copying sounds and practising how to handle and turn a book, although interest will vary by child.
Safety information
Adult supervision is required at all times, and the set is for awake play only.
Inspect the fabric, seams, pages, handle, attached pieces and mirror area regularly. Stop using a piece if any stitching becomes loose, if a section is torn or damaged, or if the caterpillar malfunctions or shows any abnormal condition. Discard a toy if a broken part could create a safety risk.
- Use the foldout book in soft lighting and do not place the mirror in direct sunlight.
- Keep the set away from fire and other heat sources.
- Remove all pieces before sleep and do not leave them in a cot or other sleep space.
