Safety & Age

Clearer age guide

Manufacturer guidance: 0+

Best suited for: Approximately 3–18 months

Strongest play stage: Approximately 4–12 months

0–3 months — caregiver-led play: Hold the book within your baby’s view, slowly turn the pages and introduce the colours, animals, soft textures and gentle sounds. It can also be positioned nearby during short periods of supervised, awake tummy time.

3–6 months — looking, reaching and touching: Your baby may begin batting at the plush animal, holding the book when it is placed in their hands and looking into the reflective mirror page. Holding a toy, swinging toward toys and pushing up on the forearms commonly emerge around four months.

6–9 months — strongest sensory exploration: Babies can reach for the book, grasp the fabric tags, squeeze the plush animal, crinkle pages and transfer parts between their hands. Reaching for wanted toys is a common six-month milestone, while moving objects between hands is common by around nine months.

9–12 months — more independent book play: Your baby may sit with the book, turn the soft pages, search for favourite pictures and interact more intentionally with the squeaker, mirror and attached textures.

12–18 months — early learning together: The book can remain useful for pointing to animals, naming pictures, copying sounds and practising how to handle and turn a book. By around 15 months, many children begin trying to use familiar objects such as books in the expected way.
