Animal Barn

The Animal Barn is a soft fabric farm with six plush animals that live inside it: a cow, sheep, pig, horse, chicken and rabbit. Animals go in through the large opening in the roof and come back out through the side door, a simple in-and-out game that babies like to repeat again and again.

The barn has a mirror, a square orange crinkle panel on the front (it rustles when pressed and does not open) and a mix of fabrics to touch. The animals are small, soft and light, so little hands can lift, squeeze and shake them.

The play changes as your child grows. Younger babies hold and explore one animal at a time, older babies post the animals through the roof and find them again, and toddlers name the animals, copy their sounds, count them and make up little farm stories.

When playtime is over, every animal packs back inside the barn, and the fabric handle makes the whole set easy to carry from room to room or take along on a visit.

Cleaning

• Wipe the barn and the animals gently with a clean, dry cloth
• Do not soak or submerge any part in water
• Avoid bleach and harsh cleaning products
• Let everything dry fully before you store the animals inside the barn

Storage

• Store the set in a cool, dry place
• Keep it away from damp conditions and direct heat

1. Start with one farm friend

Give your baby a single soft animal to hold. Name it slowly and make its sound: “This is the cow. Moo!” Then let them squeeze, shake and feel it.

2. Drop animals in through the roof

Post one animal through the large opening in the roof and let your baby watch where it goes. Then help them place the next one in themselves.

3. Find them again through the side door

Open the side door and encourage your baby to reach inside and pull an animal back out.

4. Play “Where did it go?”

Hide one animal inside and ask, “Where is the sheep?” Let your baby search through the roof opening or the side door.

5. Press the crinkle panel

Scrunch the square front panel so it rustles, then pause and let your baby try it themselves.

6. Use the mirror

Sit beside your baby and show them their reflection. Point to their face and use simple words such as “eyes”, “nose” and “smile”.

7. Match animals to sounds

• Cow: moo
• Sheep: baa
• Pig: oink
• Horse: neigh
• Chicken: cluck
• Rabbit: hop, hop

8. Sort and count

For older babies and toddlers, line the animals up and count from one to six. Ask your child to find a particular animal or colour.

6 to 9 months: Hold and explore

Start with one animal at a time. Your baby can reach for it, hold it and explore the soft texture while you name the animal for them.

9 to 12 months: Find and take out

Place one or two animals inside the barn and let your baby find them through the roof opening or the side door. You can also show them how to tap two soft animals together.

12 to 18 months: Put in and take out

Show your child how to post an animal inside, then let them try it themselves. Name each animal as you play.

18 months to 3 years: Sort and pretend

Older toddlers can name the animals, copy their sounds, count the farm friends, sort them by colour and build simple farm stories.

Safety information

Adult supervision is required throughout play, and the set is for awake play only.

Before every use, check that the barn, mirror, handle, seams and every animal are intact and securely stitched. Do not use the set if any part becomes loose, torn or damaged, or if the filling becomes exposed.

Use the set only for its intended floor play purpose and within the age guidance shown on the packaging. Keep the barn and the animals out of cots, bassinets and other sleep spaces, and keep all packaging materials away from babies and children.
